How do I get a Library card?

Birkbeck students: Your Birkbeck student ID card is also your Library card. You can order this on your My Birkbeck profile. It will be activated for use in the Library once you are fully enrolled.

Click 'Menu' in the top-right, then 'My Profile' then 'My ID card'

Birkbeck staff: Your Birkbeck ID card is also your library card. If you lose your Birkbeck ID card contact Estates & Facilities, submit an ASK query or email staff_access@bbk.ac.uk. Visiting/honorary staff: if your ID card has no barcode you need to apply for a library card. Upload a copy of your letter of appointment/contract and a passport-style photo using our online membership form.

Alumni: Birkbeck graduates can apply for annual library membership by logging into My Birkbeck and scrolling down to 'Library Services' and then selecting 'Alumni Library Access.'. See our alumni guide for more information.

Visitors from other universities: If you do not have a current Birkbeck ID card you may be eligible to apply for Library membership. More information is here. You cannot apply in person. 

Forgotten card: If you have forgotten your Birkbeck card you may be able to gain access to the Library. Students and staff with a Birkbeck username and password can print a day pass using the self-service day pass kiosk at the Library entrance.

Daily, weekly, monthly and annual passes: Members of the public can buy daily (£5) reference passes at the library desk. ID must be shown. Apply for weekly, monthly and annual passes via the library website.
