How do I print, photocopy, scan?

Answer

Printing, photocopying and scanning are available for Birkbeck staff and students.

There are printer-photocopiers on level one, near the Training Room in the group study area. There are guides for printing, photocopying, scanning and stapling next to the printers.

Firstly, put money into your online account by paying online. Printing costs 5p an A4 sheet, copying is 5p per side. Colour is 25p per sheet/side.

Printing:

  • For printing: log on to a Library PC with your Birkbeck username and password.
  • To print: send the document to a Library printer by choosing LibraryMono on print02 from the list of printers (all printers in Birkbeck are networked so check that you are not sending the job outside the Library). For colour, choose LibraryColour on print02.
  • Printing out: go to any of the printers and touch your ID card on the card reader or press the login button on the screen and type in your Birkbeck username and password.
  • Select Print job release. Select the job by tapping on it. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  • To finish: tap on your username on the screen to log out.

Photocopying:

  • Photocopying: go to any of the printers and log on.
  • Select Copy. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  • To finish: tap on your username on the screen to log out.

Scanning:

  • Scanning: go to any of the printers and log on.
  • Select Scan to USB to save to a USB. Select Email to send the scan to your email address. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  • To finish: tap on your username on the screen to log out.

Wifi printing:

You can print by uploading a document to the wireless printing portal. The portal is accessible from laptops and tablets and fixed PCs. To email a document as an attachment (all devices including mobiles) the address is webprint@birkbeck.ac.uk.

IT Services have some guidelines for wireless printing.

Visitors:

Visitors and alumni library members can ask for a photocopier login and can pay at the ground floor library desk. They can also print image files (e.g. pdf, jpeg) saved on a USB memory stick. Scanning is free and can be saved to a USB stick or emailed.
